SUPERNOVA 1999eb IN NGC 664

M. Modjaz and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (LOSS; cf. IAUC 6627, 7126), report the discovery with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) of a supernova in NGC 664. SN 1999eb was discovered on an unfiltered image taken on Oct. 2.4 UT (mag about 16.2) and was confirmed on earlier images taken on Sept. 29.4 (mag about 16.8), 22.4 (mag 18.0), and 19.4 (at the limiting mag of 19.0). The new object is located at R.A. = 1h43m45s.45, Decl. = +4 13'25".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".8 west and 4".1 north of the nucleus of NGC 664. A KAIT image of the same field on Sept. 13.4 (limiting mag about 19.0) showed nothing at the position of SN 1999eb. SN 1996bw and SN 1997W also appeared in NGC 664.
