SUPERNOVA 2002dj IN NGC 5018

D. Hutchings and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, report the LOTOSS (cf. IAUC 7906) discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT CCD images taken on June 12.2 (mag about 17.0) and 13.2 UT (mag about 16.4). SN 2002dj is located at R.A. = 13h13m00s.34, Decl. = -19o31'08".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 8".9 west and 2".8 south of the nucleus of NGC 5018. A KAIT image taken on June 3.2 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 18.5).
