POSSIBLE NOVA IN M33

M. Ganeshalingam and W. Li, University of California at Berkeley report the discovery via LOTOSS (cf. IAUC 8192) of an apparent nova on unfiltered KAIT images on Sept. 1.4 (mag about 16.9), 4.4 (mag about 17.0), and 6.4 UT (mag about 17.1). The nova is located at R.A. = 1h33m51s.16, Decl. = +30o39'50".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 3".3 east and 14".4 north of the nucleus of M33 (= NGC 598). A KAIT image taken on Aug. 24.4 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.5).
