SUPERNOVA 2003E IN MCG -4-12-4

M. Papenkova and W. Li, University of California at Berkeley, report the LOTOSS (cf. IAUC 7906) discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 17.0) on unfiltered KAIT images taken on Jan. 5.3 and 7.3 UT. SN 2003E is located at R.A. = 4h39m10s.88, Decl. = -24o10'36".5 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".8 west and 9".1 north of the center of MCG -4-12-4. A KAIT image from 2002 Nov. 27.3 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 18.5).
