SUPERNOVAE 2013gy IN NGC 1418

Further to CBET 3730, H. Kim, W. Zheng, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko,
University of California at Berkeley; and S. B. Cenko, Goddard Space Flight
Center, report the LOSS discovery of a supernova in NGC 1418 on unfiltered
KAIT images:

A finding chart for the variable has been posted at the following website

The variable was designated PSN J03421688-0443185 when it was posted at the
Central Bureau's TOCP webpage and is here designated SN 2013gy based on the
spectroscopic confirmation reported below.  Additional CCD magnitudes for
2013gy:  Dec. 4.3 UT, [18.5 (KAIT); 7.760, 17.9 (Gianluca Masi, Francesca
Nocentini, and Patrick Schmeer; remotely using a 43-cm telescope near Ceccano,
Italy; position end figures 16s.90, 18".9).

Host galaxy info: vel= 4204 km/s ; 1.3" x 0.9"; 14.21; SB(s)b
