Atomic Magnetometry at Earth's Field Brian Patton (UC Berkeley) & Simon Rochester (Rochester Scientific) Atomic magnetometers now allow the world's most sensitive magnetic-fieldmeasurements. The mechanism behind these magnetometers and advances that allow them to be used for magnetic fields in the Earth-field range will be discussed. We will present various applications, including geomagnetic-field measurements, Earth-field NMR/MRI, and the use of laser guide stars to remotely measure the magnetic field in the mesosphere.
