NAME
dark.csh - generates dark frames
SYNOPSIS
dark.csh
DESCRIPTION
dark.csh is a script which takes a series of ten minute exposures with
the shutter closed to determine the dark current of the CCD. The procedure
first places the U filter (to make it even darker) then takes five frames and
calculates the median. It then subtracts of the bias frame (see bias.csh) so
that the resulting image represents the expected counts a 600 second
interval. The DATID must be specified in the environment, so that the
resulting file can have a name. If the procedure is successful, the file is
copied to the file DATA_DIR/flats/dark.fts, where DATA_DIR is found in
ait.config The resulting file is used by
ccdproc.
