NAME
pointerr - determines telescope pointing errors
SYNOPSIS
pointerr
DESCRIPTION
pointerr positions the telescope to the RA, DEC, and EPOCH specified
in the environment, sets the filter to the value of $FILTER and takes an
exposure of time $EXPTIME. It then locates the brightest star in the field
and determines its offset from the center of the field. The result is
concatenated to the file
$REQID.log.
The file format is of the form:
ha dec ha_diff dec_diff ha_err dec_err $OBJECT
Where ha_diff and dec_diff are the observed-predicted positions and ha_err
and dec_err are the pointing errors calculated by the telescope. All angles
are in decimal
degrees.
The program will fail if the file pointerr.abort is present in the
current data
directory.
