Exoplanet in the News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past week was fun as the news outlets covered our <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/1902.10220\">paper<\/a> on the HD 106906 stellar flyby. \u00a0I made a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=8GwHeNb-qk4\">20-second video<\/a> for YouTube that is approaching 5,000 views. \u00a0I also created a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b69VLVIYBjA\">longer video<\/a> to summarize the science in greater detail which has 1,000 views. \u00a0Outside of the US, people in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pulskosmosu.pl\/2019\/03\/01\/odlegla-planeta-wyrzucona-z-ukladu-planetarnego-przez-przelatujaca-gwiazde\/\">Poland<\/a> watched the videos the most at first, but a few days later\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.notimerica.com\/sociedad\/noticia-mundo-exiliado-ligado-secuestro-estelar-hace-millones-anos-20190228173438.html\">Spain<\/a> took over. \u00a0Dzi\u0119kuj\u0119 and gracias!<\/p>\n<p>It was also very rewarding to talk to journalists as they prepared their pieces, such as Korey Haynes for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.astronomy.com\/news\/2019\/03\/an-ancient-stellar-flyby-could-have-put-planet-nine-into-its-distant-orbit\">Astronomy<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/d-brief\/2019\/03\/04\/an-ancient-stellar-flyby-could-have-put-planet-nine-into-its-distant-orbit\/#.XIKnUS2ZMws\">Discover<\/a>\u00a0Magazines, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/nearly-rogue-exoplanet-rescued-by-stars.html\">Charles Choi for Space.com<\/a>. \u00a0Our research was also covered in a second\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/crux\/2019\/03\/06\/hunt-for-planet-nine\/#.XIKfNi2ZMws\">Discover Magazine<\/a> article because the exoplanet HD 106906 b is analogous to the hypothetical Planet Nine in our own solar system. \u00a0In my\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/author_blog_posts\/18041790-great-science-writing\">Goodreads blog<\/a>\u00a0I also gave credit to Bob Sanders at UC Berkeley News for his exceptional work in writing our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/news.berkeley.edu\/2019\/02\/28\/exiled-planet-linked-to-stellar-flyby-3-million-years-ago\/\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we were thrilled that Nobel laureate <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_C._Mather\">John Mather<\/a> sent us a message praising our research and exploring a possible future collaboration to directly image other planets in the HD 106906 system. \u00a0Yes, we have a lot more to discover about this enigmatic exoplanetary
