BAIT: domoon procedure

NAME

domoon - takes image of the moon

SYNOPSIS

domoon

DESCRIPTION

domoon takes a picture of the moon calculating the topocentric coordinates using the moon command at the time the is executed. It takes an image using the FILTERS, and EXPTIME specified by the user. photo command. Then in the background it invokes photo_proc2 which does the bias, dark and flat field corrections using the ccdproc procedure.

The telescope may be offset from the calculated position by specifying the optional keywords OFFSETRA and OFFSETDEC that represent the angular offset in decimal degrees. Caution: The maximum offset is 5.0 degrees since the telescope limits are not rechecked.

The background procedure checks the environment variable SENDMAIL. If it is true (T), the image is compressed into a file with the name $DATID.ftz and queued for transmission to the remote system. Also a line is entered into the file sendmail.log so the observer can be informed by e-mail by morning.csh

BUGS

A preliminary RA and DEC is assigned by the accepter for use of the scheduling algorithm. If a request hangs around for a long time it will not be scheduled at the right time because the moon will have moved.
