Using observations from telescopes on the ground and from space, combined with theory and simulations of planetary atmospheres and orbital dynamics, The Fomalhaut Experiment is aimed at understanding Fomalhaut's planetary system at a level of detail second only to our own solar system. The goals are to:
- Detect and characterize all Jovian mass planets orbiting Fomalhaut.
- Map all significant concentrations of dust, including asteroid belts and Zodiacal dust.
- Infer the number and location of Earth-like planets from dynamical simulations
- Find Kuiper Belt Objects located within the 133 AU dust belt.
